April 22 was Earth Day
Founder and president of Tiedemann Globe drives most eco-friendly vehicle of the year
Phoenix, AZ (April 22, 2010)
April 22 was the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day and Tony Tiedemann proved once again to be a green pioneer.
Tiedemann’s Honda Civic GX was named by Mother Earth News on its “2010 Best Green Cars list” as the greenest vehicle of the year for the seventh consecutive year.
The publication shined the spotlight on six reliable vehicles capable of 40 mpg or better.
In 2010, the Honda Civic GX again received the “Greenest Car Award” from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).
“If you drive it properly it’s more efficient,” Tiedemann, 40, said.
He bought a white 2009 Honda Civic GX (photo right) in November of 2008 and pays only 70 cents per gallon for compressed natural gas (after the tax rebate).
Tiedemann has a natural gas filling station at his home.
Dave Clement, owner of Mesa-based CNG Services of Arizona, the only authorized dealer of natural gas filling equipment in Arizona, called Tiedemann a green prioneer.
Natural gas is a safer, less expensive and cleaner alternative to gasoline.
Owning the Civic means Tiedemann gets to ride in the HOV lane, which saves him at least 15 minutes during his daily commute from his Chandler home to his Phoenix office.
