Environment

We share our customers' commitment to the environment. And we believe in the importance of caring for our planet and encouraging others to do the same. As a company that relies on a recycled product, it makes good business sense. And as people living in the world, it is simply the right thing to do. We support green initiatives in a variety of ways.

Tiedemann knows small businesses in America need to track its use of energy and resources as closely if it wants to keep pace with social concern about climate change and other sustainability issues. Besides recycling and exporting used clothes overseas (more than 120,000 pounds of clothing is sorted per day at the warehouse), the company owns propane-powered forklifts and trucks, and two natural gas vehicles; it recycles cardboard, metal and aluminum. It uses high voltage, three-phase electricity wherever it can.

Tony Tiedemann owns a Natural Gas Vehicle. He drives a white Honda Civic GX to his office from his home in Chandler. On April 22, 2010, the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, Tiedemann's Civic GX was named by Mother Earth News on its “2010 Best Green Cars list” as the greenest vehicle of the year for the seventh consecutive year. The publication shined the spotlight on six reliable vehicles capable of 40 mpg or better. The Honda Civic GX again received the “Greenest Car Award” from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). Tiedemann pays only 70 cents per gallon for compressed natural gas (after the tax rebate) and has a natural gas filling station at his home.

Tiedemann's latest and most exciting project, the Clean Energy Foundation (CEF), a non-profit organization based in Phoenix, is on a path to make an environmental impact on a global scale. Its purpose is to develop renewable, clean energy solutions and products to help satisfy the human needs of water, sanitation, energy, education, and food. With operations currently in Nairobi, Kenya as well, the foundation was started in 2009. Clean energy efforts are focused in Nairobi presently because Tiedemann Globe has established infrastructure, including shipping, personnel, buildings, and people in the populous East African city. Already this year, CEF has successfully installed solar panels and biogas units (BGU) in remote regions of Kenya.
